Further highlights from our Grade 3 Camp in November! Enjoy!
The Grade 3s have been learning all about limericks! In short, limericks are fun, five line nonsense poems.
How to write a limerick:
The first, second and fifth lines rhyme with each other and have the same number of syllables (typically 8 or 9).
The third and fourth lines rhyme with each other and have the same number of syllables (typically 5 or 6).
Limericks often start with the line “There once was a…” or “There was a…”
Check out our limericks and then have a go at writing your own. You may like to share your limerick in the form of a comment! Have fun and happy reading!
The Grade 3s were recently exploring the idea of symmetry. Watch the video to learn what we found out.
We then had a go at making our own symmetrical pictures. Check them out!
Can you name things that are symmetrical in your environment?
Have you ever tried creating a symmetrical picture? How’d it go? What was it of?
Please fill out the Google Form below with details of songs you would like to hear played on the day – Sunday the 16th August.
You can submit as many songs as you like by logging back into the form. Don’t forget to hit submit!
The grade 3s were learning about Copyright today in preparation for their own partnered blog. We learnt that just because we find an image, quote or video footage through a Google search that this doesn’t mean we can use them as a published piece on our blog. Although the presentation (below) refers to using footage from YouTube, the ideas can relate to any content found online.
What can you remember about the importance of Copyright and reusing images online with the permission of the owner from today’s session? (Feel free to leave your ideas below as a comment).
Watch the clip below to learn more about copyright.
The Grade 3 students will be beginning their own personal blogs over the course of Terms 3 and 4 this year. We are working on partnering up with schools around the planet to develop a wider audience outside of our classroom. Watch our blog for more details on this exciting adventure!
